So 10 years ago I started shooting Chateau weddings in France.
I’ll be posting up weddings and other stuff to celebrate my 10 years.
Back in 2010 we had never heard of Eyjafjallajökull. So when the volcano erupted in Iceland sending a plume of ash over Europe and effectively stopping all flights in Europe, it was a bit of a challenge.
Paul and Rebecca had met me in Belfast the previous year to organise their wedding at Le Chateau de Reignac in the Loire Valley. So when all the flights were cancelled just before the wedding is was all a bit stressful.
So on May 8 2010 in front of family and friends Paul and Rebecca got married…
They had literally got the first flight out of Dublin after the Airspace was reopened. They had even organised a coach for all the family and themselves to get to France but in the end it wasn’t needed.
Chateau De Reignac is situated near Tours and within easy reach of Paris. It’s a truly beautiful Chateau, once belonging to Marie Antoinette, she had several, Napoleon would present her with one to atone for his absences so she did quite well out the the various campaigns. The Chateau boasts it’s own private Chapel decorated throughout with marble.
I remember the weather being a bit mixed as it was still early in the season but of course in France, when the sun comes out it’s hot.
And of course there were fireworks..
And of course a bit of dancing…
